Adam Hamilton BDSc, DCD, FRACDS is the Discipline lead in Prosthodontics at the University of Western Australia. He is the former director of the Division of Regenerative Sciences and Implant Dentistry at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he is still a lecturer for the advanced graduate implant dentistry program. Adam completed his general dental education at the University of Western Australia and has a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in the specialty of Prosthodontics from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He was the recipient of an ITI scholarship through which he completed a Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Florida’s Centre for Implant Dentistry. His research focuses are on implant placement and loading protocols, the impact of digital technology in prosthodontics and implant dentistry, as well as digital workflows for implant rehabilitation of the edentulous patient. He maintains a clinical practice focusing on prosthodontic and surgical implant treatment.

Adam J. Mieleszko, CDT graduated in 1997 from New York City Technical College with a degree in Dental Laboratory Technology. In 2000, he received certification in dental ceramics. Since then he has worked in close collaboration with a leading prosthodontists in the field. Interacting with patients on daily bases mastered his skills in dental aesthetic challenges. Adam coauthored books “Fundamentals of Color, Shade Matching and Communication in Esthetic Dentistry” (Quintessence Publishing, 2004, 2011’2nd edition), “Color in Dentistry, Clinical Guide to Predictable Esthetics” (Quintessence Publishing 2017) and contributed to numerous clinical and technical articles in industry journals.

After helping to develop Spear Masters Program at its inception, Ms. Fletcher innovated its expansion as product manager and now serves as faculty. She has also served as a Spear Study Club advisor and marketing manager, giving her a deep understanding of Spear’s educational principles.

Through the growth of Masters Program, Ms. Fletcher has helped improve curricula for the “Mastering the Exceptional Specialist Practice” workshops for endodontists and surgical specialists, in addition to her numerous contributions to consistently update resources that help Masters Program members strengthen their referral networks and grow their practices.

Ms. Fletcher is skilled at developing corporate trainings and has taught continuing education courses in customer service and finance. She earned a master’s degree in workforce education and e-learning prior to earning her Master of Education in adult education and training.

Dr. Reader is an endodontist, a dental specialist highly-skilled in diagnosing and treating tooth pain and performing root canals.

Dr. Alberto Monje obtained the certificate and Masters in Periodontology from the University of Michigan, Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine. Since them, he is certified by the American Board of Periodontics. He was the recipient of the ITI Scholarship for 2016-2017 at the University of Bern (Switzerland). Dr. Alberto Monje is PhD in the field of alveolar bone architecture granted by the University of Granada (Spain). He holds a private practice exclusive in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry (CICOM Periodoncia). He is Adjunct Professor at the Department of Periodontics of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA). Dr. Monje is Visiting Professor at the Department of Periodontology of the University of Bern (Switzerland).

Alexandra Jenkins, PhD, RD, started her research career in Oxford, where she was part of the research team that developed the concept of slow release carbohydrate and the Glycemic Index. This launched her life-long interest in the use of dietary strategies to reduce or prevent the development of chronic diseases. She obtained her BSc from the University of Toronto and completed a dietetic internship at St Michael’s Hospital. Subsequently Dr. Jenkins obtained her PhD at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. Currently, her major research focus has been the potential role of diet and dietary supplements in the treatment of chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes. She has been an author or co-author on over 100 original publications in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to chapters and reviews. Dr. Jenkins has volunteered extensively for the Diabetes Canada and was an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Diabetes. She has received several awards, including the Eli Lilly Graduate Scholarship Award and a Special Education Award from Diabetes Canada. Dr. Jenkins is a member of the Ontario College of Dietitians and the American Nutrition Society and is a sought-after lecturer on nutritional modification of cardiovascular risk factors and diabetes. In addition to her role as Director of Research at GI Labs, she is also a Senior Research Associate at the Risk Factor Modification Centre at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, where her research focuses on investigating the potential utility of nutraceuticals and functional foods in reducing cardiovascular risk factors.

Dr Alice Li earned her DMD degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2023. As a student, she helped create My Dental Key, an online platform that aims to enhance dental education worldwide. Dr Li combined her interest in endodontics with her artistic skills to illustrate for this textbook, and she is currently pursuing her certificate in endodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In her free time, Dr Li enjoys hiking, camping, playing board games, finding new creative hobbies, and trying different cuisines in and around Boston.

Ms. Morgan started working at Pride in 1993 and, through the mentorship of renowned practice management expert Dr. Jim Pride, advanced from serving as a consultant and trainer to leading the organization as chief executive. She led Pride as CEO and owner from 2004 to 2018.

A prolific speaker, Ms. Morgan has presented throughout North America and Europe and has been featured at every major dental meeting, including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and numerous regional organizations. Ms. Morgan is also an active writer and contributes regular practice management articles to Spear Digest. Andreas Nolte graduated as a Certified Dental Technician in Lübbecke in 1989 and worked at several dental laboratories through 1993. The following eight years he worked in an in-office laboratory. Following various stints in different areas of Germany and abroad in 2001 and 2002, he founded his own company Enamelum et Dentinum in Münster, where he has been running his own laboratory and training center since 2004. Nolte has authored several articles in dental and dental technology journals and has been a presenter on the international stage since 2000. He is a member of the editorial boards of Quintessenz Zahntechnik and Dental Dialogue and has been a member of “Group 65” for several years.

Andrew Biel is a certified physiotherapist. He has served the faculties of Boulder College of Massage Therapy (Colorado) and Seattle Massage School, and lectures at Bastyr University in the Naturopathic Medicine Program. He lives outside Lyons, Colorado, with his family – Lyn, Grace, and Elias.

Dr. Antonio Rodrigues was trained in prosthodontics at Boston University School of Dental Medicine and holds a Master of Science degree in prosthodontics.

Dr. Rodrigues is an associate professor at the Catholic University of Minas Gerais School of Dentistry. He is the clinical coordinator of the graduate division of conventional prosthodontics and implant prosthetics. He is a former adjunct associate professor in the Division of Postdoctoral Prosthodontics (Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials), at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he has been lecturing on an early basis.

Dr. Rodrigues has lectured extensively in Brazil, the United States, and Europe. He has been involved with many research projects and his literary contributions include articles in conventional and implant prosthodontics. Dr. Rodrigues is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration.

Ariel J. Raigrodski, DMD, MS, received his DMD degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. He went on to receive his certificate in prosthodontics from Louisiane State University School of Dentistry, where he also completed a fellowship in implants and esthetics and an MS degree. Dr Raigrodski is currently a professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and an adjunct professor in the Department of Washington. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and the International College of Dentists, a member of many professional organizations, and a member of several editorial boards for professional journals. Dr Raigrodski’s research focuses on ceramics, implant esthetics, and CAD/CAM technology. He has published extensively and lectures both nationally and internationally. Dr Raigrodski maintains a private practice limited to restorative, implant, and esthetic dentistry in Kenmore, Washington.

Arun K. Garg, DMD, is a nationally recognized dental educator and surgeon who for over 20 years served as a full-time Professor of Surgery in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and as Director of Residency Training at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. One of the original discoverers of platelet-rich plasma, he has written and published nine books as well as a dental implant marketing kit, which have been translated into multiple languages and distributed worldwide. He has been a featured speaker at dozens national and international dental association conventions and meetings, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Mr Ashok Sethi has pioneered in the UK and internationally the art and science of surgical and restorative implant dentistry, and has over 36 years of experience with implants. Mr Sethi was a board member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice at the Royal College of Surgeons of England for 12 years.

He has conceived and taught the Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. This course is recognised as the gold standard in training courses in implant dentistry by the General Dental Council.

Mr Sethi is also currently collaborating with international institutes to further promote his unique approach to professional development and raising standards across this emerging field.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dimitar Filtchev, Bulgaria Dr. Dimitar Filtchev obtained his degree in Dental Medicine from the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Sofia, in 1998. In 2000 he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at the same Faculty and from 2008 is a Senior physician at the same department. Dr. Irina Dragan is Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), in the Department of Periodontology and the Office of Academic Affairs. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Her academic responsibilities at TUSDM include serving as Program Director for the Dental Educational Learning and Teaching Academy Fellowship and supporting the Complex Cases Management initiative. The latest, was designed to strengthen and facilitate an interdisciplinary and interprofessional path forward, that benefits clinicians (students, residents, private practitioners) and most importantly patients. As an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Faculty at TUSDM, she has been actively involved with educational and clinical research projects. Associate Professor A. Burak Çankaya, DDS, graduated from Kadıköy Anatolian High School in 1995, and from Istanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry, in 2000. He worked as a visiting lecturer at Klinikum Osnabrück GmbH – Klinik für Mund-, Kiefer-, Gesichtschirurgie in 2006 and 2007. He acquired his PhD in 2007 and became Associate Professor in 2012. He has succeeded Dr John Beumer as Chair of the Division of Advanced Prosthodontics, and he is also Director of the Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology. Catherine Davies, MBBCh, MBA, is a medical doctor practicing in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a special interest in esthetics, regenerative medicine, and hair restoration. Charles J. Burstone, DDS, MS (1928 – 2015), was a pioneer in his field, introducing biomechanical concepts to clinical orthodontics by formulating the segmented arch technique. He was responsible of developing robust orthodontics departments at Indiana University and later at the University of Connecticut, which both became internationally known for their research and for the quality of their graduates, many of whom went on to become outstanding clinicians and teachers throughout the world. Always an innovator, Dr Burstone was an early developer of interactive computer programs for diagnosis and treatment planning, a codeveloper of new wires using titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA) and Chinese nickel titanium (NiTi) alloy, and the lead researcher in the development of long-fiber-reinforced composites in appliance design. He held various patents related to his work. As an active member of numerous dental societies and organizations, Dr Burstone was the recipient of many distinguished awards and honors. He published many books and chapters as well more than 200 articles in refereed journals. Dr Burstone was professor emeritus of the Division of Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, where he donated much of his time and energy until his passing in February 2015.

Christos Katsaros obtained his dental degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and received his four-year orthodontic training at the University of Saarland, Germany, where he also completed his doctoral degree (Dr. med. dent.) and “Habilitation.” He worked as a researcher at Göteborg University, Sweden, where he completed an Odont. Dr./ Ph.D. From 2000 to 2002, he served as an Associate Professor and from 2002 to 2008 as a Professor of Orthodontics at the Department of Orthodontics and Oral Biology, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Since 2008 he has held the position of Professor and Chair at the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, University of Bern, Switzerland.

Cláudio Julio Lopes, DDS, received his DDS degree from São Paulo City University in 1989. After specializing in periodontics, he became an assistant professor of periodontics at Camilo Castelo Branco University in São Paulo, Brazil, where he stayed from 1990 to 2000. He then moved on to become coordinator of the Periodontal Plastic Surgery and the Introduction to Microsurgery courses at the São Paulo Dental Association (APCD), which he continued until 2015. In 2014, he specialized in implantology with the Brazilian Dental Association (ABO), and in 2017, he qualified in reconstructive microsurgery at the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of São Paulo. He maintains a private practice in São Paulo, Brazil.

He is co-author of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) guidelines and position statement on the use of CBCT in Endodontics. Conor is a member of the ESE Clinical Practice Committee, and is involved in the delivery of post-graduate education in Endodontics in Ireland in his role as a committee member and incumbent President of the Irish Endodontic Society.

Craig Barrington, DDS, graduated summa cum laude in 1996 from the School of Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Microscopes and histology have always been an interest of his, but the first time he looked at a transparent human tooth, he knew that this would be a lifelong focus of his research. To this end, Dr Barrington has made it his mission to understand every diaphanization method that he has come across. Dr Barrington holds a patent in histology and multiple copyrights. Daniele Manfredini received his DDS from the University of Pisa, Italy in 1999, a MSc in Occlusion and Craniomandibular Disorders in 2001 from the same University, a PhD in Dentistry from the ACTA Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2011, and a Post-Graduation Specialty in Orthodontics from the University of Ferrara, Italy, in 2017. He achieved the Diplomate Status from the American Academy of Orofacial Pain in 2021. He was a clinical fellow at the Section of Prosthetic Dentistry, Department of Neuroscience, University of Pisa, Italy until 2005. From 2006 to 2016, Daniele Manfredini has been Assistant Professor at the School of Dentistry and coordinator of the research projects at the TMD Clinic, Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Padova, Italy. Since 2017, Daniele Manfredini has held teachings in Oral Physiology and in Clinical Gnathology at the School of Dentistry, University of Siena, Italy. On January 2017, the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) appointed him as a Full Professor at the age of 41. Daniele Manfredini authored more than 230 papers in the field of bruxism and temporomandibular disorders in journals indexed in the Medline database (Scopus H-index=49). He also edited, among the others, the book “Current concepts on temporomandibular disorders” (Quintessence Publishing, 2010), including contributions from 45 world-renowned experts, and co-authored several textbooks on the same topics. Based on publication ratings, in November 2013, the US agency Expertscape ranked Daniele Manfredini as world #1 expert in the field of temporomandibular joint disorders, and, in November 2018, also as #1 in the field of bruxism. From then on, Daniele Manfredini has always been classified within the top three experts in both conditions. Since 2018, Daniele Manfredini is Member and Coordinator of the Bruxism Consensus Panel within the International Association for Dental Research, which works on the updated definition and classification strategies for bruxism.

Born in Savona in 1961 where he lives and has worked in his own laboratory since 1982 with his collaborators. Graduated from the dental technicians school IPSIA “P.Gaslini” in Genoa in 1979. He continued his education by attending relevant workshops for the “Italian dental school “and furthered his professional experience in Switzerland, Germany and Japan. Particularly interested in the morphology and dental aesthetics, he has collaborated in the development of aesthetic dental restoration materials. and is author of “Techniques of Ceramic multistratification” (ed.UTET). He has created a manual for laboratory work on the use of composite materials by determining work protocols for the indirect technique and also for the technique of pressing composite structures on metal know as the “inverse stratification system” which he designed. He is the author of numerous articles on aesthetic restoration published in Italy and abroad. Some of his cases are published in the text “The conservative restoration of anterior teeth.”(ed.ACME) Vanini Mangani Klimovscaja. other clinical cases are presented by Dr. W. David Craig—Consultant, Honorary Senior Lecturer, Head of Sedation & Special Care Dentistry at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College London Dental Institute and Visiting Professor at the University of Portsmouth. David has over 30 years’ experience teaching conscious sedation techniques to undergraduate students, dental and medical practitioners and has served on dental and multidisciplinary groups preparing guidelines for safe sedation practice.

Deborah A. Termeie, DDS, is a clinical instructor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (ABP), and it was her experience preparing for the ABP qualifying exams that inspired her to write this book. Dr Termeie is also an editor and author of Avoiding and Treating Dental Complications: Best Practices in Dentistry (John Wiley & Sons, 2016) and has published on the topics of evidence-based dentistry and implantology. She is the recipient of several awards, including the Excellence in Implantology Research award from the California Society of Periodontics, and has been invited to participate in the American Academy of Periodontics Leadership, Engagement, Action, and Development (LEAD) Program. She maintains a private practice in Beverly Hills, California.

Derek Richards is a specialist in dental public health, Director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Dentistry and Specialist Advisor to the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme (SDCEP) Development Team. He is a former editor of the Evidence-Based Dentistry Journal, the chief blogger for the Dental Elf website and a past president of the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry. He has been involved with a wide range of evidence-based initiatives both nationally and internationally since 1994. Retired from the NHS he is currently a part-time senior lecturer at Dundee Dental School.

Dr Ajay Juneja gained his Master’s from the University of Mumbai in 1998 and went on to complete his Master’s program with Honors in aesthetic dentistry at UCLA in the United States in 2011. With vast experience in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, esthetic, functional and prosthetic rehabilitation, he lectures nationally and internationally and has published many papers on ceramic veneers. Dr Ajay’s work has been recognised by the Aesthetic Dentistry MENA Awards for his treatment in Conservative Aesthetic Procedures, Prosthetic Restoration and Multidisciplinary categories. He has won a total of 6 awards in various categories. He is an active honorary member of a very select group, Style Italiano which is at the forefront of teaching contemporary dentistry. Dr Ajay has a passion for collecting watches, shoes and unique fountain pens. Alexis Ioannidis is a Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry, University of Zurich, Switzerland. He graduated 2009 at the University of Zurich and received the title „Dr. med. dent.“ at the same University (2013). After completion of a 3-year post-graduate training at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Zurich in 2016, he received a stipend founded by the Clinical Research Foundation to spend 6 months as a research fellow at the Department of Biomaterials at the University of Athens, Greece. Since 2017 he serves as a full-time Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Zurich. His clinical focus is on the comprehensive treatment of complex, fully dentated or partially edentulous patients applying all available options of prosthetic dentistry including dental implants. He is a specialist for reconstructive dentistry (Swiss Society for Reconstructive Dentistry), an EPA Recognized Specialist in Prosthetic Dentistry (European Prosthodontic Association), has a Master of Advanced Studies in Periodontology and a Master of Advanced Studies in Oral Implantology (University of Zurich). His main scientific interest is related to minimally invasive prosthetic treatment concepts. He has published > 25 scientific and clinical articles, mostly in high-ranked peer-reviewed journals.

Alfonso Gil is receiving a 5-year post-graduate education in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Sciences from the University of Zurich. He obtained his DDS Degree from the University of the Basque Country (2013). His Master of Science and Advanced Periodontology Implantology Certificate from the University of Southern California (USC) (2013-2016) were followed by a Certificate in Advanced Surgical Implant Dentistry from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) (2016-2017). He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He obtained his PhD with highest honors from the University International of Catalunya in November 2019. His research focuses on the treatment of peri-implant disease, soft tissue augmentation of teeth and implants and fixed prosthodontics.

Dr. Ali Tahmaseb left Teheran for Belgium while in his late teens, where he began his dental education at the University of Ghent in 1988. Since then he has followed various training programs in oral surgery and implant dentistry throughout Europe and the USA. In 2011 he completed his PhD at the University of Amsterdam, ACTA and stayed on to become an associate professor in the department of oral implantology and prosthetic dentistry. He is also responsible for research and education in that department. His main research areas are guided surgery and navigation techniques, CAD/CAM, managoing of extraction sockets and its esthetic outcomes and guided bone regeneration around endosseous implants. He is co-founder of a novel concept in guided surgery and a primary investigator in this field at the University of Amsterdam. Ali Tahmaseb is also active in his private referring offices in Antwerp (Belgium) and Tilburg (Netherlands).

Altamiro Flávio is a dentist graduated from the Goias Federal University. He has been a specialist in prosthetic care since 1992 and has held a professorship in dental prosthetics since 2004. He is co-founder of the Brazilian Society of Botulinum Toxin and Facial Implants (SBTI) and member and scientific coordinator of the Brazilian Society of Aesthetic Dentistry (SBOE). In addition to his work in his own clinic, he organizes courses and seminars around the world in which he passes on his knowledge to colleagues.

Born in Barcelona, Spain, Anna Salat studied dentistry at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) in Barcelona. She completed a specialization in esthetic and restorative dentistry at the same university, where she became a professor in that department. She has been visiting professor in Siena, Marseille, Valencia, Barcelona, and Lisbon. She is particularly interested in composites, esthetics, and cosmetic dentistry and teaches courses on these topics. She is the author of publications in international journals such as the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry and the Tropical Dental Journal. Together with Dr Manauta, she wrote the book Layers: An Atlas of Composite Resin Stratification (Quintessence Publishing 2012) and is a coauthor of the book Mulher Dentista (Quintessence Publishing 2016). She is an honorary member of the Styleitaliano group. She loves to find ways to make things look better, and she applies this life philosophy by combining adhesive dentistry and conservative techniques to improve smiles.

Dr. Antonino Nicolò, graduated as a Dental Technician in 2005 from the “New Europe” Institute in Reggio Calabria, Italy. For a while he worked as a Dental Technician and then as Sales Manager for the Southern division of Dental Club S.p.A., leader in dental supply. In 2014 he graduated from Dental School with full marks. Since then, he’s been working in his family practices. From 2005 to this day, he’s been attending several courses and congresses, with a particular interest for restorative dentistry and prosthodontics. He’s an international lecturer and author of many international studies, he’s been working with Dr. Monaldo Saracinelli since 2010. He’s also a Honorary Member of Style Italiano since 2014, and now president of the “Forum Odontoiatrico del Mediterraneo” association and chairman of the “Cenacolo Odontostomatologico Reggino”. Since 2014 he’s also been a member of the Italian Academy of Restorative Dentistry.

Dr Carrassi is a professor of dentistry and stomatology, head of the Operative Unit of Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology at the San Paolo Hospital in Milan and dean pro tempore of the Medical Faculty of the University of Milan. He has a degree in medicine and surgery and is specialized in stomatology and in general pathology. Dr Carrassi has served in several scientific societies and he has been a past president of the Association for Dental Education in Europe, the European Association of Oral Medicine and the SIdP.

Dr. Castellucci graduated in Medicine at the University of Florence in 1973 and he specialized in Dentistry at the same University in 1977. From 1978 to 1980 he attended continuing education courses on Endodontics at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry with Prof. Herbert Schilder.
