This book introduces a new alveolar distraction technique based on a biological concept: Slow and Grow. Using animal studies and extensive clinical documentation, the author demonstrates that a slow, extended distraction protocol optimizes both the quantity and quality of bone regeneration for implant placement. The book outlines the biologic principles of distraction osteogenesis and details the surgical technique, from corticotomy design to the distraction protocol and device management. Detailed case presentations show the application of this approach in the anterior and posterior maxilla and mandible, including cases of severe atrophy, cleft palate, and trauma. The results show that this approach offers a viable alternative to bone grafting techniques for augmenting deficient alveolar ridges prior to implant placement.
